Our compression garments are designed for a snug fit. Optimal compression, support, and comfort require accurate measurements. DMI has an extensive size range of XS through 4XL for most styles to ensure that you find the ideal size. Remember that all measures should be taken pre-operatively.
To help us get the best possible fit for the garment, please take the following measurements while standing. Please take the measurements in inches and measure as indicated below.
Breast: Around the body across the fuller part of the bust (while wearing a bra)
Contour: Around the chest, under the breast area, with bra on.
Waist (Natural): Around the body where the natural waist is located. When bending to the side, where the body forms a crease
Waist (at Belly Button): While keeping the tape level to the ground, measure around the body going across the middle of the belly button. Try not to suck in the stomach.
Hips: Across the buttocks so that the tape lines up in front with the crease at the top of the leg (“panty line”) and the tape goes across the top of the pubic bone. Make certain that the tape remains level to the ground.
Thigh: Taken around the fullest part of the upper thigh, parallel to the floor. Take measurements on each leg.
Biceps: Taken across the fullest part of the biceps. Take measurements on each arm. Arms should hang relaxed at your sides.
Torso: In cases where a patient is shorter or taller than the average person, a torso measurement needs to be taken. Please measure from the bottom of the sternum to the top of the pubic bone. The sternum is located in the center of the chest and the bottom (your starting point) is where the ribs form an upside-down V.
Neck: Measure around the middle of neck (where an Adam’s Apple would be on a man).
NOTE: To ensure a proper fit, please have someone other than the patient take the measurements using a flexible cloth measuring tape. Hold the tape level and snug but do not allow it to "dig" into the skin. We recommend taking the measurements with the patient in panties and bra (avoiding bulky clothing). The feet should be 2-3" apart and arms relaxed at the side.
To help us get the best possible fit for the garment, please take the following measurements. Please take the measurements in inches and measure as indicated below.
Chest: With arms relaxed at sides, measure the chest going across the nipples and under the armpits.
Waist: Measure around the body going across the belly button.
Hips: Measure around the fullest part of the lower buttocks, so when the tape comes around to the front, it is just above the pubic area.
NOTE: To ensure a proper fit, please have someone else take your measurements and avoid wearing bulky clothes. Your feet should be 2-3" apart, and your arms should be relaxed at your sides. We recommend using a flexible cloth measuring tape. Hold the tape level and snug but do not allow it to "dig" into your skin. Call a DMI Representative today for your custom needs.
